South Australian Senator Penny Wong
receives CPA Medicare petition

Nearly a thousand South Australians signed the Communist
Party's petition to save Medicare and bulk-billing. Comrades
taking part in the relatively brief signature-gathering drive
were encouraged by the response to the petition.

Forms left at shops and hairdressers' salons were filled up
and returned. A stall at Semaphore conducted by the Port
Branch had people queuing at some stages to express
their disgust at what is happening to Medicare under the
current Coalition Federal Government.

Last week, the Party's South Australian State Secretary
Marie Lean handed the petition forms to South Australian
Labor Senator Penny Wong at her city office.

"I think that the large numbers of people that have signed
this petitions show how strongly Australians feel about saving
Medicare. I'm very pleased to put these into the Senate. My
contact with many people in South Australia is that they are
pretty well aware of what's happening to bulk-billing and they
don't like it", Penny Wong said.
