Australian solidarity with Venezuela

The first step in establishing an Australia-wide network in
solidarity with Venezuela was taken in Sydney recently. Following
an address by Venezuela's Ambassador to Australia, Mr Leonel
Vivas — in which he outlined the progress being made in
Venezuela and the challenges being faced by the revolution — the
people gathered at the Lidcombe meeting decided to establish
Australia's first Bolivarian Circle.

Participants at the meeting outlined some immediate tasks, such
as the preparations for the World Festival of Youth and Students
to take place in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas in August next
year and a campaign to have the Australian Embassy in Venezuela
reopened. An interim committee was established at the meeting and
a regular meeting night set down.

It is anticipated that chapters of the organisation will be
established in other centres throughout the country in the near
future.
