Union of Australian Women
wound up after 55 years

The Union of Australian Women wound up its South Australian Branch 55 years after its foundation with an impressive luncheon at Parliament House just after The Guardian went to its end of year break. Stephanie Key, South Australia’s Minister for the Status of Women, hosted the event at which a booklet of ten UAW women activists’ recollections was launched. Years of Struggle was collated by Beryl Miller who spoke at the function along with several other long-time UAW members, trade union leaders and parliamentarians. Local UAW members will remain active and in touch with the national organisation through its Victorian branch.
