May Day Party Celebration

Members of the Party in Sydney and associated friends and parties celebrated May Day on Sunday, May 4, at the Greek Community Club at Lakemba. The celebrations were well attended and musicians from Sydney’s Lebanese and Kurdish communities entertained us. CPA President Comrade Hannah Middleton addressed the celebration with a speech reminding all the successes that the working class had over 2007 in getting rid of the hated Howard Government. She urged all to work with the party and all those who are campaigning to stop the privatisation of electricity in NSW. She reminded us of the need to work for peace this year in assisting in campaign about Guam and many other issues.

Both the President of Communist Party of Lebanon Con Saba, as well as a rep of the Communist Party of Iran Zahida Morvatjou also addressed the function. Distinguished guests were the Consuls of Cuba who spoke of the struggles of the Cuban 5.

Participants at the party’s May Day celebration responding to the music from the Lebanese and Kurdish musicians. A very successful and joyous occasion for all.
