Murder Incorporated
"The BBC",The New York Times and other newspapers have published some details of the involvement of the United States in the 1965 campaign by the Indonesian Army to wipe out the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI). The information was published in an official State Department history of the period although the release of the book had been blocked by the CIA and the US State Department. George Washington University's National Security Archive obtained a copy of the history book when it was "accidentally" sent by the Government Printing Office to its bookstores. The American Ambassador in Indonesia at the time was a Marshall Green who became notorious for his involvement in anti-communist activities on behalf of the CIA and the US Government. A telegram to the US State Department mentions "possible" American payments to a man described as "one of the key civilian advisers and promoters" of an organisation known as the Kap-Gestapu movement. The memo added that Kap- Gestapu's activities were "fully consonant with and co-ordinated by the army". And then, "This is to confirm my earlier concurrence that we provide Malik with 50m rupiahs requested by him for the activities of the Kap-Gestapu movement", says a December 2, 1965 document from the US Ambassador in Indonesia. The memo goes on: "The chances of detection or subsequent revelation of our support in this instance are as minimal as any black bag operation can be." The history says that the US embassy provided lists of top communist leaders to the Indonesians who were fighting the PKI. "We frankly do not know whether the real figure" [of the communists who have been killed] "is closer to 100,000 or 1,000,000 but believe it wiser to err on the side of the lower estimates, especially when questioned by the press", says the document. The murderous rampage by the Indonesian army and the deposing of Indonesia's President Sukarno brought in its aftermath the 30-year-long Suharto dictatorship. One by one the criminal activities of the US rulers and their agencies are revealed to the world after years of denial and lying. But that is the stock-in-trade of the current and past leaders of the US.
