Israeli war condemned:
CPA Statement

The Communist Party of Australia condemns in the strongest terms the 
Israeli military aggression and war against the Palestinian people.

For many years, Israel has been systematically seizing Palestinian land, 
establishing settlements and driving Palestinian people into exile and 
refugee camps. The aim of the Zionist leaders of Israel is to create a 
"Greater Israel" and to impose their domination on neighbouring Arab 
countries.

Israel has been financed, armed and politically supported from the time of 
its foundation by successive US administrations. The present war being 
waged against the Palestinian people is fully supported by the Bush 
administration.

The interventions by US "mediators" have merely facilitated and given a 
diplomatic cover to the aim of dominating the whole of the Middle East, an 
aim shared by the Israeli and US Governments.

We fully support the right of the Palestinian people to establish their own 
independent state, led by the elected Palestinian Authority and Yasser 
Arafat as its Chairman.

The Palestinian State must incorporate the West Bank and Gaza Strip with 
East Jerusalem as its capital. We call for its recognition by Israel and 
admission to the United Nations.

We demand an immediate end to the Israeli war, the acts of aggression and 
crimes and call for the complete withdrawal of all Israeli military forces 
from areas administered by the Palestinian Authority.

We call upon:

* The United Nations to insist upon the implementation of its resolutions 
which require Israel to withdraw from Lebanon, the Syrian Golan Heights and 
all Palestinian land illegally occupied during the 1967 Israeli war.

* Israel to dismantle all settlements constructed on occupied territories.

* The Australian Government to clearly dissociate itself from the Israeli 
aggression and to support intervention by the United Nations to bring about 
a peaceful settlement incorporating the above measures.

We call upon Australians to rally in defence of the Palestinian people who 
are in the frontline of the struggle for an independent and free homeland 
and for the defeat of the plans of the Israeli and US Governments to 
embroil the whole Middle East in war. Such a war could once again lead to a 
world war with enormous destruction and loss of life.

We believe that the implementation of these measures will bring peace 
between the Israeli and Arab people and lead to a cessation of the 
spiralling acts of violence which have resulted in the horrendous and 
unnecessary loss of life on both sides.
