Urgent Appeal for the people displaced by fighting in Pakistan
Comrades from the Pakistan Peace & Solidarity Council have asked for urgent assistance for the over 1.5 million people displaced by fighting taking place in Pakistan.
Comrades have been attempting to provide some relief from the over 40C heat with almost no resources. They report that there are “hundreds of casualties due to sun stroke, heat stroke, dehydration, starvation, and gastroenteritis. The greater number and most vulnerable … are poor children and women”.
The Communist Party of Australia asks members to give generously to this appeal and to encourage other individuals and organisations to contribute to the aid effort.
We also ask that members and supporters send a letter to local MPs as soon as possible, calling for more aid from the Australian government. You can find a form letter for this purpose here.
Please send all donations made out to the CPA and address the envelope to: Pakistan Appeal
c/o 74 Buckingham Street
Surry Hills NSW 2010
All monies collected will be deposited immediately into the Pakistan Peace & Solidarity Council account.
