CPA - The Guardian

This 11th Congress of the Communist Party of Australia (CPA) energetically condemns the military coup perpetrated against the democratically elected government of President Manuel Zelaya.

Delegates to this Congress believe that some of the triggers for this were the decisions by President Manuel Zelaya that Honduras should become a signatory to the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas, ALBA, and his intention to convert the US base at Soto Cano to an international airport.

The CPA delegates assembled at this Congress express their solidarity with the people of Honduras and demand the return of President Manuel Zelaya to power.

This Congress calls on the Rudd government to press the de facto government to stop the repression against the Honduran people and to reinstate the legitimate government.
