Cuban Ambassador to Australia, Pedro Monzon, farewell

Anna Pha presenting a gift to the Cuban Ambassador from the Communist Party of Australia at his farewell in Sydney on Saturday October 4. The second Cuban Ambassador to Australia, Pedro Monzon and his wife, will be returning home this month. Speakers paid tribute to the work and many initiatives of the Ambassador in developing and strengthening relations between Australia and Cuba. This work includes the successful Yo! Si Puedo (Yes I Can) adult Aboriginal literacy campaign in Bourke, Wilcannia and Enngonia in NSW. Others spoke about the development of arts, dancing, music, sports and cultural exchanges and his building of awareness and support for freeing the Cuban 5 and ending the inhumane US blockade of Cuba.
