Solidarity with the CP of Ukraine!

Joint declaration of the German Socialist Workers Youth (SDAJ) and the German Communist Party (DKP)

The Communist Party of Ukraine has been deprived of its status as a party, and the minister of justice has forbidden its participation in elections. The government of the pro-EU entrepreneur and now President Petro Poroshenko, which came to power by a coup d’etat by fascists, has thus taken a further step towards outlawing the CPU and other communist organisations.

In April the new pro-Western regime banned written and video statements critical of capitalism. The government takes a social-reactionary bearing, hoping to be included in Western free trade agreements. Some oligarchs prefer cooperation with the USA, others hope for membership of the EU.

They – for instance the Kiev mayor Vitaly Klitschko – primarily seek (and find) contacts in Germany. They have in common that they intend to foster Ukrainian nationalism in order to enforce anti-worker politics of social cuts, arms spending and the dismantling of democracy. At the same time as they blatantly breach the Minsk Protocol, the Kiev government wages a war against the People’s Republics in the Donbass region, which is directed against civilians and civil infrastructure.

The CPU stands for resistance against the Kiev government’s reactionary politics. Therefore, its members are being persecuted, and the party has been put on a black list. Meanwhile, the power of the government is also based on irregular fascist militia groups who attack anti-fascists, Jews, and so-called separatists.

We condemn these anti-democratic practices and demand the abolition of all limitations on communist organisations in Ukraine! In the regions under full control of the government, fascist organisations are active, nationalism is flourishing, and the number of violent anti-Semitic and homophobic attacks is massively increasing. At the same time, benefits are reduced, wages are cut, state companies privatised and trade union activities hampered. This leads to the people’s poverty. Health care, pensions and welfare are plunging.

This is the prospect revealed which imperialism offers!

We side with all those who struggle against racist separation, anti-Russian warmongering, fascism and dismantling of democracy.

No ban of the CPU and other communist organisations!

Long live international solidarity!
