CPA solidarity with Sydney bus drivers

The Communist Party of Australia fully supports Sydney bus drivers and the Rail Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) as they resist the privatisation of bus services to the city’s inner west.

The decision to privatise was taken without consultation, despite the fact that it will undoubtedly affect drivers and tens of thousands of commuters. Former commitments to maintain routes and jobs can now be seen for what they’re worth with this government’s betrayal of the people’s interests.

Around 1,200 public transport workers must now fear for their livelihoods. The union is being threatened by the state government for taking industrial action which was clearly in defence of the community’s interests.

The CPA calls on members and supporters to show their solidarity with the union and support a vital public service.
