Battleship Potemkin

Directed by Sergei M. Eisenstein

The story of the mutiny on the Russian ship Prince Potemkin during the 1905 uprising against the Tsarist regime. Battleship Potemkin is Considered one of the most important and influential films of all time, as well as possibly Eisenstein’s greatest work. Its revolutionary zeal led to it being banned in many countries, particularly fascist Germany, Italy and Spain, and even Britain up until 1954! The film brought Eisenstein’s theories of cinema art to the world in a powerful showcase; his emphasis on montage, his stress of intellectual contact, and his treatment of the mass instead of the individual as the protagonist.

Get Potemkin and another of Eisenstein’s films The General Line on one DVD for $20(+ p&h). Or how about eight films by Sergei Eisenstein on four DVDs for just $60  (+ p&h). The other films are: October 1917, The Strike, Alexander Nevski, Que Viva Mexico!, Ivan the Terrible (Parts 1 & 2).

Walmart - the high cost of low prices

$10 (+ p&h)

Directed by Robert Greenwald

Wal-Mart has become one of America's most successful retail chains by offering everyday goods at low prices for working families. But just how is Wal-Mart able to charge less than many of their rivals, and what has their success done for their employees? Documentary filmmaker Robert Greenwald takes a look inside the discount retailer's empire in Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price, and discovers a company short on scruples and long on shabby treatment of the people who work for them.

Mission Against Terror

$10 (+ P&h)

Anyone who has tried to explain the case of the Miami Five to someone who has not heard of it before will appreciate how difficult it is to do justice to the complex situation leading up to the arrest of the five men and their unjust imprisonment. They are heroes and household names in Cuba, but their case is relatively unknown in Europe. This film, Mission against Terror is a powerful and compelling account of Cuba's struggle against terrorism and the five men's role in that struggle, when they infiltrated anti-Cuba terrorist groups based in Miami to prevent further atrocities against Cuba.
