Israeli assassinations condemned

The Secretariat of the Communist Party of Australia denounces in the 
strongest terms the bloody campaign of assassination launched by the 
Israeli Government against those struggling to end Israeli occupation and 
establish an independent Palestinian state.

Sharon and the military junta he directs are intent on violence. Sharon is 
a man of war and war erupts wherever he goes. He, however, continues to 
receive the unquestioning support of the US administration.

The real aims of the Israeli Government's murderous actions are to destroy 
any and every attempt to reach a peaceful and just settlement, so that it 
can pursue its aim of a "Greater Israel". This includes saving the existing 
and building more illegal Israeli settlements on Palestinian land occupied 
following the 1967 war. Most of those killed by Israeli missiles and 
armoured incursions into Palestinian areas are Palestinian civilians.

We support the proposal of many world governments that a UN peacekeeping 
force be sent to the area to protect the Palestinian Gaza Strip and the 
West Bank from Israeli military occupation and bloody oppression. The way 
to peace and an end to the killings is for all Israeli forces to withdraw 
and the immediate establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
